No fewer than five persons – comprising two drivers and three passengers including a child - were reported to have died while fifteen others were injured in an accident which occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at about 4pm on Monday.

The accident which involved a Mazda bus conveying some passengers and a Mitsubishi car with two occupants was said to have occurred following over speeding and wrongful overtaking.

Officials of the Ogun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and policemen from the Ogun State Police Command evacuated the scene and returned traffic to normal.

The Sector Commander of the FRSC confirmed that the accident involved 20 persons out of which five lost their lives. He further advised motorists to be patient and avoid wrongful overtaking as they drive through the construction area.

The remains of the dead victims were deposited at a nearby Mortuary while the injured ones were rushed to Ife-Oluwa and Ibadan Centre Hospitals.
